Thomas Schmid

Owner and Managing Director

Before starting his studies of International Business at the School of International Business in Reutlingen, Germany, Thomas gathered substantial work experience in the decor printing industry by working at the world-market leading decor printing company, the schattdecor AG in Thansau, Germany. During his studies Thomas spend one year abroad at the EGADE, Tec de Monterrey, Mexico and gathered further work experience e.g. in the area of investment banking in Madrid, Spain. Thomas holds a Master of International Business as well as a German Diplom-Kaufmann. After graduating he worked several years as a strategy consultant with Roland Berger - one of the leading strategy consultancy firms worldwide. During this time he led projects on different topics within a wide range of industries. After his buy-in at Rotodecor, he started as a Managing Director wirth Rotodecor in 2011.  

Roland Schmid

Owner and Managing Director

Roland graduated in 1970 and holds a German Diplom in mechanical engineering. After working for several medium-sized companies - always in the field of construction and engineering - he started to work for Thermopal in Leutkirch, an international manufacturer of derived timber products. At Thermopal Roland Schmid was in charge of the areas Operations, Production as well as Research & Development. After 20 years with Thermopal - thereof 14 years as Chief Operating Officer - he continued his career by starting as COO at the world-market leading decor printing company, the schattdecor AG in Thansau/Rosenheim. Within 12 years as COO at schattdecor, he significantly extended the market-leading position of the company together with his colleagues. The succesfull installation and extension of production facilities in Germany, China, Russia, Italy, Poland, Brazil and Switzerland was one of his major achievements during this time. The build-up of Rotodecor - since 2003 a subsidiary of schattdecor AG - was within Roland's responsibility from the very beginning.  

During his professional career, Roland dealt with a wide variety of manufacturing processes and technologies, e.g. in the fields of derived timber products, furniture, paper, colors & inks as well as printing, coating, imregnating and laminating. By the beginning of 2010 the Schmid family took-over a majority of the shares in Rotodecor. Since then Roland is operationally putting his long-term experience and in-depth understanding of the industry into Rotodecor.

Hans Dieter Jacobi

Head of Engineering and Managing Director

Ever since he graduated with his German Diplom in mechanical engineering, Hans Dieter has been working in the area of construction and special purpose machinery. Before starting at Rotodecor, he worked as Head of Engineering for the Kochsiek company for many years. By the time of its foundation as a subsidiay of the schattdecor AG in Thansau in 2003, Hans Dieter took over the position as Head of Engineering at Rotodecor. He is with us since the very beginning. Besides Operations and Engineering, Hans Dieter was also in charge of all business and reporting tasks to the parent company as a Managing Director for several years. With the entry of the Schmid family in 2010 he has now again enough resources to fully focus on the challenges that Rotodecor faces in the area of engineering due its extraordinary growth during the last couple of years.
